5 Tokyo Stationery Shops You Should Visit: A Stationery Lover’s Guide
Tokyo, Japan, is a dream destination for stationery lovers. With countless stationery stores across the city, Tokyo offers everything from traditional shops with decades of history to modern concept stores featuring innovative designs and unique Japanese stationery products. These shops are not only places to buy stationery, but also sources of inspiration.
As the owner of YUINK, an online stationery shop based in the Netherlands, I explored Tokyo’s stationery shops with both a stationery enthusiast’s curiosity and a deeper understanding of how stationery brands select products, present their collections, and create memorable shopping experiences. Rather than simply looking for stationery gifts, I paid attention to each store’s product selection, brand presentation, store atmosphere, and the overall experience they create for visitors.
After exploring different areas of Tokyo, I selected five stationery shops that I would recommend to tourists visiting the city. Whether you are looking for Japanese pens, notebooks, planners, washi tapes, or unique stationery gifts, each of these stores offers something special.
1. mt lab. Tokyo
Location: 3-14-5 Kotobuki, Taito-ku, Tokyo, 111-0042, Japan

If you love washi tapes, mt lab. Tokyo is a must-visit stationery store. Specialising in mt masking tapes, this shop offers an impressive selection of washi tape designs for journaling, scrapbooking, and creative projects.
As you enter the store, an 8-metre-long wall filled with washi tapes, organised by colour, immediately catches your attention and provides endless inspiration for stationery lovers. You can also find the latest product releases and special designs that are not always easy to find elsewhere.
mt lab. Tokyo is located near Asakusa, making it a convenient stop while exploring this historic area.
2. Shimojima Asakusabashi Flagship Store
Location: 1 Chome-30-10 Asakusabashi, Taito City, Tokyo 111-0053, Japan

If you are looking for affordable, practical, and wide-ranging stationery products like local shoppers, Shimojima Asakusabashi Flagship Store is a great choice.
Unlike highly curated concept stores, Shimojima focuses on variety and value. Both the ground floor and first floor are filled with stationery products, including limited-edition collaboration items, newly released products, and everyday supplies for studying and business.
Whether you are buying stationery gifts for children, colleagues, or yourself, you can easily find useful and affordable options here.
3. Ginza Itoya
Location: 2-7-15 Ginza, Chuo-ku, Tokyo, 104-0061, Japan

Ginza Itoya is probably one of the most famous stationery shops in Tokyo, and for good reason. This 12-floor stationery store offers a wide range of products, including Japanese pens, notebooks, planners, office supplies, home goods, and beautifully designed stationery gifts.
What makes Itoya special is not only its product selection but also its focus on brand presentation and customer experience. Throughout the store, you can find product samples that allow you to experience Japanese craftsmanship and understand the ideas behind each product.
It is an excellent place to discover new stationery brands, explore the latest releases, and find thoughtful gifts.
4. Ginza Loft
Location: Bellvia Building, 1F–5F, 2 Chome-4-6 Ginza, Chuo City, Tokyo 104-0061, Japan

Many visitors already plan to visit Loft in Tokyo for skincare, lifestyle products, or Japanese souvenirs. But stationery lovers should not miss the stationery section on the 5th floor!
In addition to popular Japanese stationery brands, Ginza Loft features products from independent artists, creative stationery sets, and unique collaborations. You can discover planners, journaling supplies, and stationery from other Asian countries, making it a great place to find something new and inspiring.
Be prepared! It is easy to spend much more time here than expected.
5. Sekaido Shinjuku
Location: 世界堂ビル 1F–5F, Shinjuku, Tokyo 160-0022, Japan

Sekaido Shinjuku is a must-visit stationery store in Tokyo, especially for artists and anyone interested in creative supplies.
There are two main reasons to visit. First, the entrance and ground-floor sections feature many award-winning stationery products, including items that can be difficult to find elsewhere. Second, the store offers an extensive selection of art materials, from professional drawing tools and paints to a wide range of creative supplies.
As the main store of the Sekaido chain, it offers one of the widest selections of art and stationery products in Tokyo.
